Iron Infusion Therapy (Venofer®) | Physician-Guided Iron Treatment | Luxe RGV
Iron Infusion Therapy
Iron infusion therapy is a physician-guided intravenous treatment used to replenish iron stores in patients diagnosed with iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia when clinically appropriate. Iron plays an essential role in producing hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body.
When iron levels are low, patients may experience symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, reduced exercise tolerance, dizziness, headaches, pale skin, or shortness of breath. During your medical evaluation, our provider will review your medical history, symptoms, and laboratory results to determine whether iron infusion therapy is appropriate for you.
Unlike oral iron supplements, intravenous iron is administered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This allows iron to be delivered without relying on gastrointestinal absorption and may be an appropriate option for patients who cannot tolerate oral iron or who require intravenous iron based on their medical condition.
Iron infusion therapy may be appropriate for individuals who:
-
Have laboratory-confirmed iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia
-
Have not tolerated oral iron supplements
-
Have conditions that reduce iron absorption
-
Have ongoing iron loss requiring replacement
-
Have been referred by their healthcare provider for intravenous iron therapy
Every treatment at Luxe RGV is physician-guided and administered by qualified nursing professionals. Treatment recommendations are individualized based on your laboratory findings, medical history, and provider evaluation.
